Setting Material

Even high-quality hardwood or luxury vinyl will buckle, gap, or squeak if installed with substandard adhesives or improper trim work. At Premium Prestige Flooring, we use high-performance setting materials—from commercial-grade subfloor adhesives to color-matched perimeter mouldings—in every flooring installation.
Built to Handle North Georgia’s Humidity Swells
If you’ve spent a summer in Metro Atlanta, you know how humid it can be. When outdoor humidity spikes, wood and composite planks absorb moisture, causing them to expand. In dry conditions, on the other hand, they contract. Without the proper fastening systems, this constant seasonal movement leads to cupping planks, loose boards, and hollow-sounding spots. We prevent this by using setting materials tailored to your home.
- Moisture-curing urethane adhesives: For glued-down engineered hardwood and luxury vinyl, we use advanced moisture-curing adhesives. These specialized glues form an incredibly strong bond that remains flexible enough to allow natural movement without breaking loose. Many also provide a barrier against concrete slab moisture.
- Calibrated flooring cleats and heavy-duty staples: For nail-down hardwood on wooden subfloors, standard fasteners aren’t enough. We use climate-rated flooring cleats and coated staples driven at precise depths and angles, locking planks tightly to your joists and subfloors.
- Underlayments with acoustic and thermal protection: When installing floating floors, we use premium dense underlayments that smooth minor subfloor irregularities, cushion every step, and dampen sound between levels.

T-Mouldings, Reducers & Matching Shoe Moulding
A clean edge is the mark of true craftsmanship. Properly installed trim is actually essential, as floating floors require an expansion gap along every wall and transition point so they can breathe without buckling. We finish every project cleanly using precision-matched trims:
- T-Mouldings: Designed to seamlessly connect two floors of equal height—such as transitioning from your living room vinyl plank into a tiled hallway—while concealing the essential expansion gap underneath.
- Reducers: When moving from a thicker hardwood or tile floor down to a thinner vinyl, carpet, or bare subfloor, reducers create a smooth, tapered incline. This eliminates dangerous trip hazards and protects the raw edges of your planks from chipping.
- Matching shoe moulding and quarter round: Rather than tearing off your existing baseboards, we install clean, color-matched shoe moulding along the bottom perimeter. It covers the necessary expansion gap against your walls, sits flush against uneven drywall, and gives your room a polished, custom-built look.
- Stair nosing and end caps: Durable edge pieces designed to cap steps, sliding glass door thresholds, and fireplace hearths cleanly and securely.
